Next Gallery of Honor Induction - Aug. 30

The Colorado Rapids have revealed that they will mark the newest addition into the club's Gallery of Honor during halftime of Colorado's match vs. Houston on Sunday, August 30, 2009.

Rapids former team captain John Spencer will be the next Rapids Alumni Player to be inducted into the club's hall of fame permanently inside Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

He will join Rapids legends Marcelo Balboa, Paul Bravo and Chris Henderson in the Gallery of Honor to have his name forever immortalized on the North wall of the stadium.

Spencer, who holds several all-time scoring records for the club, played with Colorado from 2001-2004, and is still remembered to this day by fans for his goal scoring prowess, fierce competitiveness and fiery enthusiasm on the pitch.

The Rapids will also be hosting an event at the stadium that same day with several other Rapids Alumni players in attendance, who will be there to witness the induction and be available for fans to meet.

I just want to say that I think this is a good move by the club. I loved watching Spenny play and remeber watching one of his more amazing goals live in person at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles when he lifted the boys to a 1-0 win and silenced an LA crowd that did not like him too much. I wish he was still with the Rapids in some capacity but know that he is doing very well for himself there in Houston.
