World Cup of Wines Recap
Last night under a brilliant purple sky on the pitch at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, fans, clients and friends of the Rapids mingled with the players and coaches of the Rapids at the 2nd Annual World Cup of Wine & Beer.
The annual event, a fundraiser for the Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation, was a big success!
More than 200 patrons walked down onto the patio on the north end of the field level, picked up their beer and wine glass, and went tent to tent sampling over 53 different wines, 8 beers, 7 spirits and even cigars, presented by Stanley Papas Cigars.
Aside from sampling the various wines and spirits, patrons visited the silent auction table, enjoyed the live stylings of local band Dotsero, took a tour of the Rapids locker room, posed for pictures on the pitch with the players, and purchased mystery corks that offered prizes from 100 businesses around the Denver metro area.
Thanks to the support of attendees, the Colorado Rapids Community Care Foundation raised over $15,000. Money raised through the Rapids Foundation benefits underserved children by providing assistance through educational, nutritional and recreational programs.
The Rapids Foundation would like to thank all the fans in attendance, as well as Southern Wine & Spirits, who provided the wine, Heineken USA, who generously provided the beer, Dotsero, Jazz@Jacks, and KKHI 101.9.
The Rapids Foundation is already looking forward to the 3rd Annual Colorado Rapids World Cup of Wine & Beer in July of 2010!
